On this Saturday, October 10th, attractions all over Siouxland will be participating in a Fall Festival. All events are free unless otherwise noted, as far as we know, and are tons of fun! You can check out the city website or individual attraction websites for more details, but a few of the locations participating include:
Downtown
Sioux City Museum: I spy ABC hunt (find items starting with each letter of the alphabet to win!) throughout the permanent collection all day, and 75 minute historical sites of Sioux City walking tour departing at 10am
Sioux City Farmer's Market: trick or treat the stalls and make crafts and participate in fun activities at the fall fun booth from 8am to 1pm, plus costume contest for 12& under (with cash prizes!) at 10am
Sioux City Art Center: mask making from 10:30am to noon
Wilbur Aalfs Downtown Library: fall fun all day including activities for kids and a tree filled with recommendations of great books!
Bishop Heelan Fine Arts Center: pumpkin decorating at Heelan Fine Arts center from 10am to noon for kids 4-8. BYOP (bring your own pumpkin), but decorating supplies will be provided!
Betty Strong Encounter Center: Traditional Games Encounter with Brent Wojcik featuring traditional and historical Native American games, 1pm
Hard Rock Cafe: Baconfest at Battery Park from 11am to 4pm, $5 per person
Longlines Rec Center: Rock on! Fall bouldering contest, registration at 11am, climbing noon to 3. Free to watch, registration fees, men's roller derby with Sioux City Kornstalkers 7pm, free admission to first 500 fans.
Morningside and other points South/East
Lakeport Commons: bounce house, face painting, and trunk or treat with Sioux City Fire & Rescue, noon to 3pm
Scarecrow Farm: open from 10am to 6:30pm, regular admission fees apply
Air Museum: Scavenger hunt for kids with pumpkins and other great prizes, showings of the movie Planes, a raffle for a free pilot lesson, crafts, and more! Regular admission fees apply.
Morningside College: football game vs Hastings at 1:30pm, $6 for adults/$3 for non-Morningside students, Taste of Morningside featuring music from alum Casey Muessigman of the Voice and '75 alum Charlie Leissler from 4pm-7:30pm (prices vary), and men's and women's soccer vs Concordia, 5:30 and 7:30pm, free
IBP Ice Center: Open Public skate from 7pm to 9pm, $6 for adults, $5 for kids, $2 for kids under 5, plus $3 skate rental fee
North side and other points North/West
Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center: fall hike at 9:30am, trails, playscape, and indoor nature center all open regular Saturday hours
Railroad Museum: open 10am to 4pm, regular admission fees apply
Briar Cliff University: free admission for all to BCU cross country meet at McCook lake, 10:45am, free admission for kids under 18 to volleyball vs St Mary's at Briar Cliff, 1pm, free admission for all to men's and women's soccer vs Hastings at Briar Cliff, 2pm and 4:15pm, free admission for kids under 18 to football vs Midland at the DakotaDome in Vermillion, 7pm
