New Years Eve Fun for Siouxland Families

2019 is almost here! Are you looking for a fun way to spend it with your kids? While I definitely love playing board games, eating junk food, Netflix countdowns, and other New Year's fun at home, going out can be a really special way to celebrate the end of the year and the start of the new one. Here are some of the planned events your family might enjoy together to celebrate New Year's Eve. All events are on New Year's Eve, Monday 12/31/18, unless otherwise noted.

In Sioux City

  • Sioux City Musketeers Hockey vs Omaha Lancers at the Tyson Events Center, 7:05pm
  • Fizzy Science at LaunchPad Children's Museum, Saturday 12/29 at 11am and Sunday 12/30 at 1:30pm, part of their STEM Explorers series of programs
  • Ice Skating at IBP from 1-3pm
  • Tick, Tock and Ya Don't Stop party at Hop-a-Lot in the Southern Hills Mall, from 4-8pm, $8.50 per person, with tons of inflatables plus selfie station, snacks, and a balloon drop at the end of the party! More info on the Hop-a-Lot Facebook event post 

Within 2 hours

  • Sioux Falls Stampede Hockey vs Lincoln Stars at Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, 7:05pm with skating party to follow game
  • Sioux Falls Skyforce Basektball vs Austin Spurs at the Sanford Pentagon, 6:30pm, featuring inflatables before and during the game, giveaways including a big screen TV, and team autographs after the game
  • New Year's Eve at Great Bear Ski Valley in Sioux Falls
  • Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo Noon Day's Eve Beach Ball Drop with magic show to follow, ball drop at noon
  • Omaha Children's Museum Bubble Party, 5-8pm

Road Trip

  • Science Center of Iowa balloon drop and Noon Day's Eve party, 9am to noon, with face painting, balloon twisting, a magician, and more
