If you've been following my blog very long at all, or if you know me personally, you have probably figured out that I LOVE books...but you might not know that I collect cookbooks! I have a wide variety, from vintage to trendy, and almost all of them are full of delicious sugary and carb-laden treats that I eat too many of. I've realized lately though that I no longer have the metabolism of a college runner and need to step away from the donut cookbook and find more ways to change my overall diet to one that can be healthy and sustainable as I navigate the metabolism of a 30-something mom instead! So when I heard about the opportunity to be part of the blog campaign for Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion, I decided this was the time to make a real change.

I'm really hoping to get back to a healthier weight now that my youngest is 3 so that I can have the energy to really enjoy lots of active fun with my kids! But I'm really skeptical of fad diets and I know that I won't stick with something that means giving up all of the foods that bring me joy. And clearly fitness expert and Always Eat After 7pm author Joel Marion is on the same page--he says in the book:

Fact is, most diets are extremely narrow with regard to food choices and variety, and many even limit entire macronutrients altogether over the course of the entire program (think low-carb and low-fat diets). Three months with no carbs? No thanks. Such practices not only are entirely unnecessary, but make for a miserable, unsustainable experience.

Yep, this is my kind of "diet" book! For the most part, the Always Eat After 7pm diet seems to be eating healthy paired with some intermittent fasting, based on the most up-to-date nutrition science (and I love that he cites his sources in the book--he seriously has 5 pages of bibliography, listing all the studies he read so we don't have to!) Here's a better explanation of what it's all about, straight from the author:

So I'm going to give this a real try, and I'm going to blog about it as I go! I'll be checking in four times over the next month to share my progress, so check back in to cheer me along and find out what's working (or not...but I really hope it does!!) for me with my new diet where I still eat the things I love, including delicious bedtime snacks. I'm especially excited to try the chicken sandwich pictured on the front because it looks so good!

The Always Eat After 7 PM plan consists of:

  • The 14-day Acceleration Phase to kick-start the program and see rapid results
  • The Main Phase where you’ll learn exactly which foods to eat when in order to achieve your weight-loss goals
  • The Lifestyle Phase to keep the weight off for good

I'm assuming the Acceleration Phase will be the hardest, as I adjust out of a lot of unhealthy habits (farewell, quarantine baking, I hardly knew ye!) and into some better ones, but I really think it will be worth it if I can stick to it! Joel Marion’s Always Eat After 7PM program is designed to make dieting easy and eliminate 90% of reasons for resistance, so hopefully that will prove true for me!

Ready to join in too? Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion is now available to purchase. You can learn more about the book and how to purchase here.

Thank you to Always Eat After 7 for letting me be part of this sponsored campaign!
