Always Eat After 7pm Joel Marion is a mostly gray book featuring a chicken sandwich with dark reddish brown bbq sauce and leafy greens with a sesame seed bun

This June, I've been trying out the diet system in Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion and I'm back for my final (for now!) update on how it's going. Based on surprising science, Always Eat After 7 PM debunks popular diet myths and offers an easy-to-follow diet that accelerates fat-burning and allows you to indulge in your most intense food cravings: Eating the majority of your calories at night. So for me, like previous weeks, there's good news and bad news. The bad news is that I didn't lose any weight, at all. The good news is that I do feel healthier, and I know that eating healthier will keep being good for me even if I never lose weight from it, although I hope at some point I will once I am stress-eating less. One of the best habits from the book, in my opinion, is eating berries and cherries when I want a sweet treat instead of candy and baked goods. I really love strawberries and cherries and I definitely feel like that is a habit I can stick with forever!

Joel Marion says:
“Specific higher-carbohydrate foods (including berries and cherries) support your fat-burning metabolism while you sleep, providing your body with a steady stream of fuel throughout the night. The trick is knowing how to combine them with other evening and pre-bedtime fat-burning foods to fuel your metabolism as you sleep.”
And I love that the book includes so many tips and delicious recipes to help me stick with that and with the plan in general. As a refresher, The Always Eat After 7 PM plan consists of:

  • The 14-day Acceleration Phase to kick-start the program and see rapid results
  • The Main Phase where you’ll learn exactly which foods to eat when in order to achieve your weight-loss goals
  • The Lifestyle Phase to keep the weight off for good

I'm in the "lifestyle phase" and to be honest, it does feel restrictive, but only because I was eating so poorly before (like dessert everyday, #quarantinebaking). I'm really going to try to stick with it a bit longer and see what happens in the long term. The science Joel Marion relies on looks pretty good to me (I mentioned it in a previous post, but I really love that he cites all his sources so you can go read them yourself too!) and I do think if I stick with it, it may yield slower results than other plans, but then they will actually last! And I definitely want to try more of the great recipes from the book! Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion is now available to purchase.
