 Every month I bring you the best things to do in Sioux City and Siouxland, from storytimes and crafts to music festivals, streaming concerts, and holidays from silly to serious. This month, some of the highlights include Fourth of July, Saturday in the Park, and tons of summer fun! You might also be interested in my posts about pools and splash pads in Siouxland or summer day camps in Siouxland.  I hope these event listings help inspire you to go make some happy memories with your family this month!

    • 8am: Missouri River Runners Red, White & Blue 2.62 mile Mini-Marathon and Kids .262 Mini Marathon for 12 & under, $5 for non members, FREE for MRR members (and their memberships are only $15, so if you have more than 3 runners in your house you save money even if you never attend another event)
    • 9am: Yoga by Evolve Yoga at Grandview Park
    • 10:30am to noon: Saturday Art Lesson: Clay Faces at the Sioux City Art Center, for ages 8+, or younger children with an adult helper, $7
    • 7pm: Iowa Mammals program at Southwoods Conservation Area, hosted by Woodbury County Conservations

  • Mon 7/5
    • Many area businesses and attractions are closed to give their employees a day off after a holiday that fell on a weekend, so call or check social media before heading anywhere if you'll be upset to show up and find it closed!

    • 9am-5pm: LaunchPad Children's Museum Teddy Bear Tuck-in dropoff: kids can leave a favorite plush friend to spend a night at the museum!

    • 10:30am to noon: Saturday Art Lesson: Vinyl Record Painting at the Sioux City Art Center, for ages 8+, or younger children with an adult helper, $7

    • 9-11am: LaunchPad Children's Museum Teddy Bear Tuck-In pickup event: kids can make a craft and eat donuts and drink juice while they pick up their plush toy that spend the night at LaunchPad! $10 per child.
    • 2pm: Singing the Songs We Love musical performance by Amy Ellsworth, live at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and streamed on their Facebook page
    • 7:30pm: Sioux City Municipal Band concert at the Grandview Park bandshell

    • 1-3pm: Animal Slumber Party at the North Sioux City Library: 3-8 year-olds are invited to leave a favorite plush toy to spend the night at the library! The library will post photos of their adventures that afternoon and evening on the North Sioux City Library Facebook page. 
    • 3:30-5pm: Tweens and Teens Pizza Party at the North Sioux City Library--come eat pizza and supervise the stuffed animals at the animal slumber party! 
    • 6-7:30pm: Pop-Up Park at Grandma Moos Park, hosted by Sioux City Parks & Rec, FREE

    • 7-8pm: Rooted Boutique Grand Opening FREE Fashion Show in the Warrior Hotel Ballroom (store will open for shopping at 10am Saturday morning until 6:30pm, and again from 8:30 to 11pm for those who want to shop after the show!)
    • 9:30pm: Flick N' Float at the Sergeant Bluff Pool, for ages 9+, $8 per person. Bring your own inner tube or other flotation device to sit on while you watch the movie--they will not be provided by the pool. Open starting at 9pm.

      • 11am-2pm: Picnic in the Park at Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve. Visitors are invited to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy with their family at the park, and park staff and volunteers will be doing a Dutch oven demonstration, supervising archery, and some other fun suprises!

      • 4:30-8pm: Grand Opening of Art SUX new gallery at 515 Fourth Street, with refreshments, plus info on coming fun like the MADE shop and the Art SUX for Kids non-profit.

      • 2pm & 7pm: Aristocats Kids presented live at the New Stage Players Performing Arts Center at 3201 Dakota Ave in South Sioux City by the New Stage Players summer kids camp. The  Humane Society of Siouxland will bring cats available to adopt to both of the Saturday performances. 
      • 5:30-7:30pm: Declaration of Independence reading at Latham Park *this event is non-partisan and the poster clearly states that it is not a fundraising event or campaigning event for any political party, cause or individual, but it is being organized by the Republic Party of Woodbury County. I just want to make sure you know so you can make an informed decision about whether that affects your choice to attend!)
