Every month I bring you the best things to do in Sioux City and Siouxland, from storytimes and crafts to music festivals, streaming concerts, and holidays from silly to serious.     • Happy New Year's Day! Go for a First Day Hike to celebrate

    • 10am: Family Movie at the Sioux City Public Library downtown, FREE

    • Discovery Saturday at the National Music Museum in Vermillion, SD with gamelan sessions at 10:30am and 12:30pm
    • 10:30am: Saturday Art Lessons: Clay Snowman at the Sioux City Art Center, $7 per project. For ages 8+, or for younger artists with a parent or other adult helper
    • 11am: First Saturday Family Storytime: Pajama-Rama at the Sioux City Public Library downtown, FREE

    • 1pm: Declaration Book Club at the Sioux City Public Museum
    • 1:30pm: Track Guy Movie at the ReMax City Centre, free will donation for admission. Post-movie social at Wheelhouse
    • 2pm: Dude in the Dakotas: Teddy Roosevelt, Rancher historical lecture with Dr. Russ Gifford at the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, FREE
    • 6:15pm: Musketeers Floor Hockey for kids 4 and up at LongLines Rec Center, FREE but registration is required

  • Tues 1/13
    • 10am: Nature Tales at the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center for preschoolers and a parent or other adult caregiver. FREE, but registration required and limited to the first 20 registrants. Call the nature center at (712)258-0838 or email them at TKruid@WoodburyParks.org to sign up!
    • 10:30am: Little Lego at the North Sioux City Public Library
    • 11am: Library Storytime at the Perry Creek branch of the Sioux City Public Library, FREE
    • 5:30pm: Teen Time at the South Sioux City Public Library, FREE

    • 9:30am: Baby Storytime at the Sioux City Public Library downtown, FREE
    • 10:30am: Saturday Art Lessons: Pop Up Paper Sculpture at the Sioux City Art Center, $7 per project. For ages 8+, or for younger artists with a parent or other adult helper
    • 11am: Stories & Cuentos bilingual storytime at the Sioux City Public Library downtown, FREE
    • 6pm: Kids Night Out: Hot Cocoa Mugs at Pickled Palette. $30 per person includes pottery project and dinner!
    • 8pm: Kenny K and the Dead Cowboys live in concert at the Sioux City Hard Rock, for ages 21+ only, FREE

Siouxland Pumpkin Patches

One of the best parts of living right in the middle of some of the world's best farmland is access to amazing pumpkin patches! Whether you're looking for simply pumpkins in a farm field; an all-day adventure with corn mazes, hayrides, apple cider donuts, and cute photo opps; or something in between, Siouxland probably has your type of pumpkin patch! Fourth of July falls on a Friday in 2025 and there is lots of patriotic fun happening!
