Jason's is Sioux City's coolest new place for treats on a hot day! Here's what
you should know about this cute locally owned ice cream shop near Sioux City's
north side:
What is Jason's Frozen Treats?
Jason's Frozen Treats is a brand-new ice cream shop in Sioux City serving up
cones and cups of delicious ice cream in a variety of flavors. The building
itself is quite small, with a walk-up ordering window, a walk-up pick-up
window, and a door for employees only. There is no seating inside, but there's
an adorable area on the west side of the building with artificial grass and
picnic tables, including two full size picnic tables with huge umbrellas that
provide great shade and two cute little tables that my kids couldn't resist
and I'm sure other kids will love too. Here's a peek at my recent visit
there:
When I went, the employees were polite and hardworking and got us our ice
cream very quickly. We just got cones so I can't comment on the bowls, but I
was happy with the size of the cones for the price we paid ($2.50 per cone,
and the bowls we didn't buy were $5. This is special introductory pricing
until their grand opening according to this signage, so I would assume there
will be a price increase once they have their grand opening.)
The building itself is very eye catching, with cheery bright blue paint and a
cute, hand-painted mural of a cone topped with light green ice cream.
And most importantly, our ice cream tasted GREAT! I got an ice cream coffee
with brownie chunks in it which was amazing.
My sons tried caramel pirate, which was described as tasting like the inside
of a 3 musketeers bar, and with hidden treasure in the form of cookie and
candy bits! They loved it.
They also tried orange creamsicle, and I tried a bit too, and it was so good.
I might order this next time for myself.
And my daughter tried mint chip and declared it awesome.
Overall, it was as successful as a trip to an ice cream spot can be!
Where is Jason's Frozen Treats?
Jason's Frozen Treats it on the north side of Sioux, near Floyd Boulevard and
the Leeds neighborhood. The official address is 1900 27th Street in Sioux
City, IA and the nearest intersection is 27th and Chambers. There is a small
lot with free parking available for about 8 cars, and parking on the nearby
neighborhood streets is also free.
Owner Jason says he hopes to eventually open a couple more locations in the
Sioux City area and that he is excited about sponsoring local sports teams
and being activity in the community as a youth mentor.
I'll be sure to add those other locations here too once they're opened!
Jason's Frozen Treats on Hamilton
In spring of 2024, Jason's announced their second location will be opening in summer 2024, at 2519 Hamilton Boulevard. This location will be super convenient for families on the west side, Country Club, and Grandview Park neighborhoods, and anyone visiting that part of town! I'll try to stop by as soon as it opens and share some photos and video so everyone can see what it's like. The shop will have a shared lot with free parking for Jason's and the other businesses in that little stretch of Hamilton including Square Tire, Lynn Nails, and Wok n Go.
Hours and more information for Jason's Frozen Treats
Jason's is not yet open for summer 2024 but I will update when an opening date for the season is announced! Jason's Frozen Treats on
27th Street has posted that they accept both cash and cards.
