The Ranch KC offers family-friendly KC BBQ in Belton, MO

UPDATE: The Ranch KC closed in spring 2026. I am leaving my review up for now in case people are still curious about what it was like. You can check out more of my KC faves here.

On a recent trip to Kansas City, I had the opportunity to visit a new restaurant, The Ranch KC, and I was so impressed I wanted to share about it with all of you! My former hometown of Kansas City is one of my favorite travel destinations, not just because I love seeing my family and friends there, but also because there are great places to play, shop, eat, and explore. And The Ranch KC is definitely going on my list of great little places to eat in the KC area for future trips too! The Ranch KC is at its heart a barbeque restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and lots of kid-friendly options, so I definitely recommend it as a great way to get some KC BBQ, especially if you're visiting the area with kids.

Where is The Ranch KC?

The Ranch KC is located at 17207 S US Hwy 71 in Belton, MO, in a small strip mall just a few minutes south of Kansas City itself. There is a plenty of free parking in their parking lot.

Food at The Ranch KC

The food at The Ranch KC is primarily barbecue, with their meats smoked in-house, and they have a huge variety. They start everyone off with a basket of homemade honey cornbread muffins and cinnamon butter, and everyone at our table loved it, including me. I wish I had the recipe!

I had a beef brisket sandwich with fries and their house bbq sauce, and it was really delicious. Other members of my family had their house salad, ribs, and burgers and everyone seemed to really enjoy their food. It was all well-cooked, with great flavor and texture. My brother who couldn't come with us this time said his go-to when he does go is the pulled pork, so I might have to try that next time!

My brisket sandwich was flavorful and moist, and I really enjoyed it with their house bbq sauce. They offered several other sauces, but I was happy with that one, so I stuck with it! The portion sizes were generous, and we almost all had leftovers to bring home.

Kids Menu at The Ranch KC

The Ranch KC has a dedicated kids menu, and in December 2025, everything on the kids menu was $7.99. Options included: hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken strips, and macaroni & cheese, plus ham, pulled pork, or brisket sandwiches. They all looked delicious! My kids tried the chicken strips, burgers, and macaroni on this visit and they all enjoyed their food.

All the kids meals came with fries or coleslaw on the side, and with a kids drink, with choice of milk, lemonade, or a soft drink. And every kid got a little pack of crayons to use on their menu while we waited, although that wasn't very long as they got us our food very quickly!

The portions were generous here too-my tweens even had a hard time finishing their meals, and my 3-year-old ate less than half of hers! Luckily, they have to-go boxes so you can enjoy leftovers from The Ranch KC at home or in your hotel after your visit.

Also worth noting: as of December 2025, kids "eat free" on Tuesdays! (limited to one free kids meal per adult meal, so bring some grandparents if you have a lot of kids like me!)

Drinks at The Ranch KC

The Ranch KC offers housemade lemonade, and other soft drinks including Coca-Cola products for all ages. They also have a wide variety of alcoholic beverages for the 21+ crowd, including several varieties of margaritas. And they offer virgin daiquiris and virgin margaritas.
