Broadway Orpheum shares lineup for 2026-2027 season

Each year, the Sioux City Orpheum Theatre hosts the biggest and best Broadway-style productions of plays and musicals in Siouxland, and the 2026-2027 season looks like it will keep the bar high for this tradition. Here is the scheduled lineup for fall 2026 and winter and spring of 2027, announced in May 2026:

Broadway at the Sioux City Orpheum Theatre 2026-2027 Lineup

  • Mystic Pizza 
    • Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.
    • Based on the 1988 Julia Roberts rom-com movie, set to a soundtrack of hits from the 80s and 90s. 
  • Beetlejuice
    • Tuesday, November 17, 2026 & Wednesday, November 18, 2026 at 7:30 p.m.
    • Musical rendition of Tim Burton's spooky classic!
  • A Christmas Story: The Musical
    • Thursday, December 17, 2026 at 7:30 p.m.
    • Based on the 1983 Christmas movie with Ralphie, the leg lamp, the bunny suit, and other iconic festive fun
  • A Beautiful Noise
    • Monday, February 1, 2027 at 7:30 p.m.
    • A musical sharing the life story and music of Neil Diamond
  • Legally Blonde the Musical
    • February 18, 2027 at 7:30 p.m.
    • Courtroom drama but make it cute! What, like's it hard? Based on the beloved 2001 Reese Witherspoon movie
  • Shucked
    • Wednesday, March 24, 2027 at 7:30 p.m.
    • Tony-award winning comedy set in a small town protected by magical corn. 
Season passes are available for Mystic Pizza, Beetlejuice, A Beautiful Noise, Legally Blonde, and Shucked (A Christmas Story available as an add-on) and as the shows draw closer, tickets for individual shows will become available as well. 

I have been to a couple of shows at the Sioux City Orpheum and they're always well done and the theater is so beautiful. I'm consistently impressed with the talent on display!

Age guidelines for parents for Broadway at the Sioux City Orpheum Theatre 2026-2027 shows

While parents will know their own kids best and these are not restrictions from the Orpheum, the general recommendations for ages I found online for these productions are:

Mystic Pizza: teens and adults. The original movie was rated R and while some changes have been made, it still features adult themes that many parents will not feel are the best fit for their children
Beetlejuice: at least 10+ due to cursing and spooky content. some reviewers online say teen +
A Beautiful Noise: 8+ or essentially all ages except young children
Legally Blonde: at least 10+ The original movie was PG-13 and while some changes have been made, the musical still includes a murder trial and mentions of infidelity, sexual harassment in the workplace, and other content that some audience members prefer their children not be exposed to yet
Shucked: at least 10+ due to cursing, drinking, and innuendo

Based on this information, I would recommend against buying a season pass to Broadway at the Orpheum for kids in middle school and elementary school for the 2026-2027, but keep an eye on the other great shows added to the Orpheum and Tyson in the coming year such as Swan Lake by the World Ballet Company, and Bluey's Big Show which are sure to be great evenings out! This year's Broadway at the Orpheum lineup does sound so fun for parent date nights or an evening out with other moms and could also be a big hit with teens or college kids who love musical theater. I'll share more info on some of these shows as they draw closer!
