I found the coolest camera! Camp Snap sells screen-free digital cameras, and I'm a huge fan. In fact, I love them enough that I signed up to be an affiliate, so please note that this is a sponsored post. After getting one and trying it out, and more specifically, letting my 13-year-old with Down syndrome, my 9-year-old, and my 4-year-old each use it without supervision, I am super impressed. I think Camp Snap cameras are such a cool option, especially for kids and teens, including kids and teens with special needs. Here's why:
So why would a screen-free camera be awesome? One huge advantage is that there are environments like school, camps, sometimes social events like weddings, where phones and other devices with screens are not allowed, but a camera would be and would be fun for capturing the great memories made.
What are Camp Snap Cameras?
Basically, Camp Snap cameras are digital cameras that store your pictures on a memory card, but they don't have a screen (you use the viewfinder to line up your shot). On the Camp Snap Classic Camera, there is a switch that toggles between on, off, and flash. And there's a single button on top to take a photo. And that's it. Flash or not is the only decisions the photographer has to make other than how they'd like to line up their shot!
What comes with a Camp Snap Classic Camera
Camp Snap classic cameras come with the camera itself, a USB-C to USB-C cable, and a micro-SD card to store the photos on (which comes already installed in the camera.) When you're ready to upload the pics, you can either swap that SD card into a computer or use a USB-C cable to connect the camera to another device. I love that the SD card is removeable, not just for ease of transferring photos but also so a kid at camp for example could just bring more than one if they would be taking more photos during their time away than what the SD card holds. The SD card the Camp Snap classic camera comes with holds about 500 photos, but you can upgrade to whatever size SD card you'd like.
Accessories and more from Camp Snap
There are a variety of fun accessories from Camp Snap, including a USB-C cable that cleverly doubles as a wrist strap, and a waterproof case. I bought the waterproof case so my kids and I could use our Camp Snap camera at the pool and the lake, and I think it especially shines with this option. Even with the added cost of the waterproof case, this makes the Camp Snap + waterproof case way cheaper than any of the alternatives I looked at for waterproof cameras for our summer fun. My previous waterproof camera was a Fujifilm, and to replace it would be like $300! The Camp Snap classic camera + case would be about $97 if purchased at full price and separately, but if you grab the "waterproof bundle" on the Camp Snap website, it's only $82, so I definitely recommend that option.
Camp Snap also sells a video camera called the CS-8 Digital Video Camera which has accessories like a microphone and a storage bag, and there's another non-video-camera from Camp Snap called the CS-Pro with some additional features beyond the classic Camp Snap, and it looks really awesome too. I'd love to try it someday!
However, neither the CS-Pro nor the CS-8 are compatible with the waterproof case (I hope in the future they make waterproof cases for those as well!) so for my family's summer fun, I thought it made the most sense to get the classic Camp Snap camera.
Why Camp Snap Cameras are Awesome

Also, the waterproof cover makes them ideal for wet environments like the pool, lake, beach, etc where a cell phone might get easily destroyed. The low price means I feel comfortable giving our Camp Snap Camera to our kids without the stakes being as high if I have to replace it (but we are still trying to take great care of it so it last a long time. So far ours seems pretty durable!)
And it's easy to use, even for young kids who might usually need a parent's help in figuring out all the options you have to select on many cameras. It definitely fills a void for a lot of situations where I used disposable film cameras as a kid and teen in the 90s and 2000s, without the hassle or waste of having to get a disposable film camera developed and then buy a whole new camera. Not to mention the cost to potentially print a bunch of pictures that aren't very good. With our Camp Snap, I can upload all the pictures my kids or I take, save my faves to post or print, and then just delete the ones that are unidentifiable blurs.
My kids are still getting the hang of holding the camera still enough to consistently get blur-free photos, but the pics they're taking are still so cute!
Camp Snap for Special Needs
While Camp Snap is for everyone, I was especially excited about it as an accessible option for my son with Down syndrome. I really love that it's so simple to use, like you can literally just turn it on and then press the button to take the photo and that's it! Obviously, everyone has different abilities, and this won't be the right fit for everyone, but for my son, it was easy to use the on/off/flash switch and the photo button. And no confusion over changing photo modes, so he can get straight to the part he loves: taking photos.
And as a mom, I really love that there's no internet involved, unlike a smartphone, and that means I don't have to worry that my son might accidentally post something or text someone a photo. And he also won't get distracted by other apps in the course of using it, which definitely happens sometimes when he uses my phone.
This truly feels like a tool that lets him be independent and do something he enjoys-photography-just like his neurotypical peers, while removing some of the unnecessary features that can be confusing in other cameras, and removing the risks of having access to the whole internet like using my cell phone.
Get Your Camp Snap Camera
The classic Camp Snap Cameras are listed for $69.95 at their full retail price, but they often have great sales. At time of posting, the Camp Snap Classic and CS-Pro are both $10 off as part of their Memorial Day 2026 sale, and the CS-8 video camera is $30 off. If I read the affiliate info they sent correctly, I think you get $5 off if you order through my link, which stacks on top of other sales, so hurray for that!
You can also find Camp Snap Cameras at many other retailers, including Scheels. The Sioux City Scheels even has this exact forest green Camp Snap classic camera in stock at time of posting!
We are having a blast with our Camp Snap camera, and I can't wait to see all the fun my kids capture with it on all our summer adventures. I definitely recommend it based on our experience with it so far!
