Lawton Fest 2017


The City of Lawton, just a few minutes East of Sioux City is hosting Lawton Fest this weekend and you will want to be part of the fun! Here are a few of the fun activities happening:

Thursday

A kids royalty contest will be held at 6pm at the Friendship Center (participants must register by 7/12) and at 6:30pm there will be sidewalk chalk fun at the Lawton Memorial Park.

Friday

The Parade is at Friday night at 6pm and leaves from the high school, then goes west to Elm Street, north on Elm to East Maple, then back down to the high school.

After the parade, there will be  a bounce house and lots of other fun at Tara Way Park including a pie eating contest at 8pm.

Then at 8:30pm the movie Boss Baby will be projected at the park!

Saturday

Saturday of Lawton Fest kicks off with circus tent raising at 9:30am at The Old School Site
Then from 10:30-1:30 shop the vendor park at Tara Way Park, buy BBQ at the park from Killer B's, and at 11 am, join in free yoga in front of the Presbyterian Church.

At 2pm and 4:30pm there will be  performances from the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus. Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for kids and seniors.

The Ranch KC offers family-friendly KC BBQ in Belton, MO

UPDATE: The Ranch KC closed in spring 2026. I am leaving my review up for now in case people are still curious about what it was like. You can check out more of my KC faves here. On a recent trip to Kansas City, I had the opportunity to visit a new restaurant, The Ranch KC, and I was so impressed I wanted to share about it with all of you! My former hometown of Kansas City is one of my favorite travel destinations, not just because I love seeing my family and friends there, but also because there are great places to play, shop, eat, and explore. And The Ranch KC is definitely going on my list of great little places to eat in the KC area for future trips too!
