Much like Sioux City's Tourist in Your Town program, the State of Nebraska has an annual tourism Nebraska Passport and fun prizes for participating travelers. Here is how you can participate!
Get a passport
You can order a paper passport online to be mailed to your house, or you can pick it up at your first stop! They are much bigger and prettier than I expected:
You can also use a digital passport by downloading the free Nebraska Passport android app or Apple ios app.
Visit fun places
There are 80 places you can visit to get stamps on your passport, all across Nebraska. The closest to Sioux City is the Main Street Thriftique in Pender, Nebraska. At each stop you need to get a stamp in your paper passport, or login with the app. The Nebraska Passport website also says you may take a selfie at an attraction as another type of entry and then send it to them to be counted with you other stops!Win Prizes!
Everyone who turns in a passport with at least one stop is entered into a drawing for one of four $500 Nebraska vacation package or one of 300 Nebraska lottery scratch cards. There are also some fun prizes based on number of stops (and prizes are cumulative, so you get the prizes for all the levels you've passed and not just the top one):
- 8 stops all along one of their 10 themed tours: $15 in Nebraska Lottery coupons
- 10 Stops: Official 2017 Nebraska Passport T-shirt (up to 4 per passport)
- 20 Stops: Nebraska 150 ceramic mug
- 40 stops: Baker's chocolate gift box
- 60 stops: Nebraska 2018 tourism calendar
- 80 stops: Nebraska Passport gift box with jacket, car decal, and sample products from some of the stops like Gibbons honey farm and Chili Dawgs' Foods of Fire, plus an entry into a drawing for an Omaha Steaks "butcher's share"
