Halloween in Sioux City & Siouxland

in background, a smiling jack-o-lantern sits between two other pumpkins, with fall leaves around their base

Siouxland rocks at Halloween. We've got everything from kid-friendly trunk-or-treat events and craft projects to a possibly-haunted former asylum that will terrify even teens. And as 2020 dates and details are released for more Halloween events in Sioux City and our neighboring communities, I'll try to include them all here! So bookmark this page and check back anytime you want to know where to celebrate this season, whether you're looking for spooky or sweet! Please keep in mind that things may change especially quickly this year, so please stay flexible and patient as everyone tries to find the right balance of caution and fun.

Trick-or-Treat in Siouxland 2020

There are no ordinances setting trick-or-treat hours in Sioux City, Iowa, South Sioux City, Nebraska, or North Sioux City, South Dakota. Customarily trick-or-treat hours in Sioux City happen between 6-8pm on October 31st, which is a Saturday (and a full moon!) this year. If there are any official proclamations about Halloween happening or not happening, I will try to update here as soon as I hear about it, but I also recommend following your local government on social media to make sure you have the most accurate updates!

Pumpkin Patches near Sioux City

The closest pumpkin patch to Sioux City is Scarecrow Farm in Lawton, Iowa, and I definitely recommend it. You can read more about my family's visit to Scarecrow Farm. Or check out my full list of pumpkin patches within 2 hours of Sioux City. There are tons of great pumpkin patches in our area, with a variety of fun activities at each. Some are pretty simple, and some are quite elaborate. All of them are great places to celebrate fall!

      Siouxland Coronavirus Cancellations--UPDATED JULY 2020

In spring 2020 we saw over 20,000 cases of COVID-19 in Iowa, more than 15,000 in Nebraska, and more than 5000 cases in South Dakota, many of those right here in Siouxland.  For medical information on COVID-19, please visit the CDC's coronavirus page or Mayo Clinic coronavirus page   Wow, a lot has changed since I first posted this! When I first started this post, the nearest outbreak of COVID-19 was one family in Omaha! Now, we have seen nearly everything in our tri-state area closed to try to flatten the curve, and the number of cases skyrocketed higher than many people thought possible, yet mercifully lower than many of the projection models.  I did a major update on this post in June 2020 and a small update in July 2020, and it will now reflect what is re-opening in our area! I will try to keep it up to date, so check back for updates, but I do not run any of these organizations, and I encourage you to seek out their individual websites and social media to confirm c
