Looking for things to do in Sioux City? Every month I list family-friendly events in Siouxland, from storytimes to craft events and concerts, along with a few holidays from serious to silly! I'll update throughout the month as new events and details are released.     • 1-3pm: Bird Identification Presentation: Common Feeder Birds of Iowa, presented by guest speaker and birding expert Kelly McKay at the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center. Registration required for this in-person event by calling (712)258-0838 or by emailing DSynder@WoodburyParks.org
    • 3pm: Winter Bird Hike at the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center
    • 6:30-8:30pm: Owl Prowl at the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center

  • Sat 2/6
    • 10am: Spanish Storytime at the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center reading El Miton (the Mitten) by Jan Brett. Registration required for this in-person event by calling (712)258-0838 or by emailing Camps@WoodburyParks.org

    • noon-2pm: Bestie Bash for kids at the Southern Hills Mall, more details in my Valentine's event post
    • noon-2pm: Arts & Hearts for adults at the Southern Hills Mall, more details in my Valentine's event post
    • 2pm: Exploration Saturday kids event streamed live on FB and YouTube by the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center

    • 2pm: Songs that Shake Off the Winter Blues streamed by the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center on Facebook and YouTube
    • 6:30pm: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Superbowl LV! I'm willing to concede that Brady may be the GOAT, but I'm still cheering for Mahomes. Check out my ideas for how to party like a KC Chiefs fan for food and fun ideas for your big game watching party!

    • 10am: Family Bird Hike at the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center. Up to 5 families can sign up to come look for birds and participate in the great backyard bird count! Registration required for this in-person event by calling (712)258-0838 or by emailing Camps@WoodburyParks.org
    • 10am-noon: Kids Days: Valentine's Crafts and scavenger hunt at the Sioux City Public Museum. Scavenger hunt is in the museum, while the craft kits are to take home and make whenever you want, and you can do either or both. FREE, but with limited quantities. 
    • 6-9pm: Valentine Paint n' Sip event at the Tyson Events Center, $40, more details in my Valentine event post

    • 10am: Snowshoe hike at Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center for ages 10+, must call (712)258-0838 to register, some snowshoes available, limited to 15 participants
    • 10am: Knee High Naturalists at Hillview Recreation Area in Hinton for preschoolers with a parent or other adult caregiver, $3 per child, call (712)947-4270 to sign-up!
    • OAKS nature learning event at Hillview Recreation Area in Hinton, for early elementary age kids, call (712)947-4270 to sign-up or for more info on the event series!
    • 2pm: Waiting for Warmer Weather kids online learning event, hosted by the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center
    • 3:30pm: 5k Snowshoe Hike at Hillview Recreation Area in Hinton, $5 for snowshoe rental while available, must call (712)947-4270 to sign-up!

    • 12:30pm: Cardboard Sled Races at Cone Park
    • 2pm: Songs Everybody Knows musical performance streamed live by the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center
    • 2-4pm: Ice Fishing for Kids at River's Bend near Akron with Plymouth County Conservation, FREE and all ages welcome (not a drop-off event; parents should plan to stay with child.) Ages 16+ must have valid Iowa fishing license to fish. Limited amounts of bait, snacks, poles, and ice shacks will be available, but bring your own if you have it to ensure there's enough for everyone! Call (712)947-4270 to sign-up!
    • 2-4pm: Hungerford Games Tracking Training at Hillview Recreation Area in Hinton, for teens, call (712)947-4270 to sign-up or for more info on the event series!
