Last Minute Siouxland Valentine Gift Ideas

Eek! Valentine's Day is TOMORROW which means it's too late to get anything shipped. But never fear:  there are some great gifts available from local makers, brands, and stores for anyone on your list, whether you're someone looking for a big-ticket gift for your spouse, or someone who wants to spend $2 on a kiddo! Here are some of my top recommendations for Valentine gifts you can buy here locally in Sioux City and Siouxland:

Local favorites (including my book!)

cover of 100 Things to do in Sioux City & Siouxland Before You Die by Lindsay Hindman

Sioux City Gifts carries a huge selection of local gifts like foods, candles, and tons of books, including my book, 100 Things to do in Sioux City & Siouxland. I think it'd be so cute to also add in some tickets/passes/gift certificates to a place you want to visit together, or a note in the book about which places you plan to visit together (many of the places in the book are free to visit!)

Sioux City Gifts website is here, and the store is at 1922 Pierce Street in Sioux City, Iowa.

Sparkle and shine from Ambrosia

This super-talented jeweler has tons of items in stock already made at her South Sioux store for any taste. If you're looking to spend thousands on a one-of-a-kind gemstone, she's got what you need, but she also has a budget line called Simplistix and I personally have and love some of her $40 earrings and wear them all the time. While they are plated and crystal rather than solid gold and gemstones like her more expensive pieces, I think they're beautiful and they seem durable so far. Definitely perfect for everyday wear for me!

Her website is here, and her store is at 600 A Street in South Sioux City, Nebraska

Romantic reads (and fun books for kids!) at Book People

Book People is Sioux City's only independent bookstore and whatever your valentine's fave genre is, they probably have it! Besides a wide selection of the hottest new books and beloved classics for adults, they also have great books for kids, including Valentine's themed ones, and activity books like Paint By Sticker Books starting at $9.95.

Book People's website is here, and the store is at 2923 Hamilton Boulevard in Sioux City, Iowa.

This Sioux City legend has a huge variety of delicious treats for all budgets and palates, and even gift cards if you want to let kids have the fun of choosing for themselves! One of my personal favorites for Valentine's Day is the chocolate covered sea salt caramels, but there are also boxes of Bings, and tons of bulk options including candies and nuts, plus gourmet truffles that all look so delicious.

The Palmer's Candy website is here and the store is at 405 Wesley Parkway in Sioux City, Iowa

Poppin' treats at Koated Kernels

The Jolly Time Koated Kernels store always has delicious treats for all ages, and each year at Valentine's Day they have popcorn balls, mini bags, and other goodies. While prices vary, there are sure to be some budget-friendly treats as well as larger assortments, some starting at under $2.

The Jolly Time Koated Kernels website is here and the store is at 1717 Terminal Drive in Sioux City, Iowa.

Flowers or Succulents from Perry Way Bouquet

This local florist has pre-made arrangements but also a flower bar so you can design your own, plus tons of gift options including home decor, bags, and more. Perry Way Bouquet also carries houseplants, so if your valentine's style is a new green addition that might last years instead of flowers thar will only last a week, Perry Way Bouquet has you covered!

the story of Sioux City Sarsaparilla

One of the most widely known "Sioux City" things actually isn't a Sioux City thing! If you've seen the movie The Big Lebowski, you may have caught this scene: And Sioux City Sarsaparilla is real (and it really is a good one!) Here's the full story on Sioux City Sarsaparilla: What is Sioux City Sarsaparilla? Sioux City Sarsaparilla is the signature drink from White Rock's Sioux City line . Best Kid Birthday Venues in Sioux City & Siouxland

I'm a big fan of birthday parties, whether they're your immediate family around the dining room table, or a big bash with tons of friends and classmates, and Sioux City has great options for any size party. How to choose a birthday venue Choosing a birthday party venue is so simple. And so complicated! Here are some considerations to make before picking. Price : wouldn't it be cool if this wasn't a thing? Unfortunately, it is, and most birthday venues outside of your own home or backyard do have some kind of fee. Make sure the party venue you choose is within your budget, so the birthday party stays fun and not a burden!
