Introducing Kayla Lobermeier's beautiful and reliable Prairie Kitchen Cookbook

I'm so excited to help spread the book about a gorgeous new cookbook from a talented Iowa home cook and blogger, Kayla Lobermeier. Thank you to Page Street for sending me a review copy so I could write this. Here's what readers and cooks should know about The Prairie Kitchen Cookbook:

Inside The Prairie Kitchen Cookbook

The Prairie Kitchen Cookbook
is a beautiful cookbook featuring tons of aesthetically pleasing photos and original illustrations by Haupt, and with dozens of recipes separated into five sections:

  • A Farmer's Breakfast: breakfast foods like Any Berry Baked Oatmeal and Garden Tomato, Basil, and Bacon Tart
  • Prairie Sandwiches, Salads, and Hearty Soups like Creamy Loaded Baked Potato Soup and Strawberry Chicken Salad on a Croissant
  • Main Dishes from the Heartland like Baked Apple Butter Pork Chops and Summertime Beer-Battered Walleye
  • Home-Cooked Starters and Sides like Mincemeat Hand Pies and Country Slow Cooker Cinnamon Apples
  • Country Breads like Whole Wheat Bread Bowls and Pillowy Soft Dinner Rolls
  • From-Scratch Desserts like Prairie Blueberry Slump and Velvety Molasses Pumpkin Pie

Before even opening the book. I was impressed by how pretty the book is. It is definitely a book that makes me happy to walk by and see! But I also liked the recipes, which sound delicious and yet also practical. I hope to eventually try many of the recipes, but I started with the biscuits, because I have tried baking biscuits so many times in the past but always failed. I honestly expected to fail again, but they actually turned out awesome!

Being successful at baking homemade biscuits after seriously years of trying and failing makes me even more excited to keep trying the recipes in this book, and I'll try to update with more pics once I do!
