Mark Cameron Author Talk and Bad River Book Signing at the Sioux City Public Library

*I received a free copy of this book for review purposes*

If you are a fan of action/thriller books, the Sioux City Public Library has a fun treat coming up for you: author Mark Cameron will be coming to the downtown branch of the Sioux City Public Library on Tuesday, August 20th at 6pm to present an author talk and to sign books. Here's what you should know:

Mark Cameron is a former U.S. Chief Deputy Marshall turned bestselling author. His professional and personal experiences give him unique insight to draw on in making his action novels feel authentic, even though they are totally fictional--besides his 3 decades in law enforcement, he's also a motorcycle rider, a sailor, a certified scuba diver, and has a second degree jiu jitsu black belt. He's written several excellent series for fans of the action thriller genre, including the Jericho Quinn series, the Arliss Cutter series, and was even chosen in 2016 to continue Tom Clancy's iconic Jack Ryan series! When he's not travelling, he currently lives in Alaska.

About the event:

Sioux City fans get to meet Mark Cameron in person on Tuesday, August 20th at 6pm at the downtown branch of the Sioux City Public Library. Admission to that event is free, and the library has some copies of his books available to check out, but you may also want to check with Book People to buy your own copy for him to sign so you can keep it! I do not have confirmation on whether any books will be available to purchase at this library event (but I hope so!)

While this is not an age-restricted event, the subject matter inherent in action thrillers for adults, including Bad River do include murder, assault, and other violent crimes as well as adult beverages, and adult relationships. I do not recommend this event for children.

Can't catch him at the Sioux City Public Library on the 20th? Cameron will also be in Sioux Falls on August 19th and in Omaha on August 21st, so check out those events if you can!

Bad River
is the latest in Cameron's Arliss Cutter series of action thriller novels. It's set in Alaska (and the Badlands of South Dakota!) and follows Cutter as he seeks to unravel the mysteries of two murders connected by an unusual clue. I'm still working my way through the review copy they sent, but so far it seems pretty exciting and I definitely think fans of the genre will enjoy this book specifically.

Siouxland Fourth of July Fireworks & Fun

Fourth of July falls on a Thursday in 2024 and there is lots of patriotic fun happening. Here's where you can catch fireworks and celebrate the USA this year:

Little Chicago Deli is coming back to Sioux City!

Sioux City's newest eatery isn't actually new--it's just the newest iteration of a classic! Little Chicago Deli is opening in a new location just a couple doors down from the original restaurant, and they're opening on Friday May 31, 2024, for pickup orders and delivery, with the dining lobby opening later in summer 2024. Here's the info we have so far on Sioux City's new Little Chicago Deli: History of Little Chicago Deli Little Chicago Deli has been around Sioux City since 1988 as a locally owned sandwich shop, but unfortunately the previous location closed in 2017. Prior to that, I remember going there in college while I was doing an internship downtown, and I was sad to hear the original closed. But new owners, including some staff from the old Little Chicago Deli, are bringing it back in 2024! The name pays homage to local legends about Sioux City during Prohibition. For starters, Prohibition was widely ignored in Sioux City
