Scooter's Candyland Menu Review

I love Scooter's Coffee and people seemed to enjoy the full review of the full Scooter's Coffee kids' menu that we posted earlier this year. So, when I heard they were doing a cute "Candyland" inspired holiday menu for Christmas 2024, I thought it might be fun to try them out and share our thoughts on that too! In case you're new here, I'm a mom of four kids from toddler to teen, and my kids and I love reviewing food and drinks together. We especially love a good kids' menu, so the Scooter's Coffee Kids' Combos and other kid-friendly treats are totally in our wheelhouse. So, without further ado, here's my review of the Scooter's Coffee 2024 holiday menu:

What's on the 2024 Candyland Holiday Menu at Scooter's Coffee?

Scooter's Coffee menu board on a rainy day

Starting in November 2024, Scooter's Coffee is offering a limited menu of holiday treats inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, Candyland. These drinks and desserts will be available through the app or for purchase in the drive-through or inside a Scooter's Coffee location, and they should be available at all Scooter's locations while supplies last. I didn't see an end date listed anywhere, but I'd guess they'll be disappearing soon after Christmas, so be sure to try them before then or you might miss out. Some of the drinks they're offering include:

  • Mr. Mint Mocha: peppermint and chocolate espresso-based drink, topped with whipped cream and peppermint chips
  • Mr. Mint Mocha Hot Chocolate: peppermint and chocolate (without any coffee), topped with whipped cream and peppermint chips
  • Queen Frostine Sugar Cookie Latte: espresso-based, buttery, white chocolate mocha with a hint of spices and topped with blue sprinkles
  • Grandma Nutt Latte and Cold Brew: cinnamon, brown sugar, and hazelnut-flavored espresso-based beverage topped with hazelnut cold foam and toffee bits
  • Jolly Gumdrop Smoothie: tart cherry smoothie topped with whipped cream and colorful gumdrops
and their seasonal treat options are:
  • Queen Frostine Sugar Cookie: sugar cookies with cream cheese frosting and sparkly blue sprinkles
  • King Candy Cake Bite: white cake bite with popping candy bits and gold sprinkles

Other Candyland fun from Scooter's Coffee

Along with the delicious food and drink options Scooter's is offering with this holiday menu, they also have some fun Scooter's Coffee "merch" that also follows the Candyland theme. They have:
  • Tumblers with the Candyland theme, in both 40oz and 12oz sizes.
  • T-shirts with the Scooters x Candyland theme
  • A striped Candyland beanie
  • Pajamas that are red and white striped and have the Candyland logo embroidered on them
And Scooter's is also holding a Candyland sweepstakes this holiday season. If you make an eligible purchase, you'll earn spins of the prize wheel in the app. Some of the prizes are things like a digital "skin" for the Scooter's app, while others are discounts. There is also a drawing to possibly win prizes like Scooter's gift cards, Candyland board games, and bags of Scooter's Coffee! So far, on my first two spins I won a Queen Frostine "skin" for my Scooter's App, and 10 bonus smiles.

Our experience with the Scooter's Coffee Holiday 2024 Candyland menu

We decided to try one of each flavor drink, and one of each treat, but my kids don't drink coffee yet, and the first Scooter's we visited was out of the sugar cookies, so we split this up into two different visits.

On our first visit, we tried the King Candy Cake Bites along with our drinks. They were good, with nice flavor and texture, but I do think they were quite small for the price.

For drinks, we got kids' sizes of the Jolly Gumdrop Smoothie and Mr. Mint Mocha Hot Chocolate (which comes at a slightly cooler "kids' temp", so you don't have to worry about kids getting burnt on them!) My teen tried a Mr. Mint Mocha Blender with no espresso. And I tried a hot Queen Frostine Sugar Cookie Latte with almond milk.

Everyone really enjoyed their drinks, and I tried a sip of the both the smoothie and the hot chocolate once my kids were full. Both of the kids' Candyland drinks were very good and I would definitely be happy to order either for myself! I did not try any of the mint mocha blender, but my teen said it was really good and drank it all quickly.

The Queen Frostine Latte with almond milk was also excellent. I thought it had a really nice blend of flavors that allowed for the coffee itself and the sweetness to both come through distinctly.

Overall, part 1 of the Scooter's Coffee Candyland collection for the 2024 holiday season was a big hit with my family.

On our second visit, we again had a Mr. Mint Mocha Hot Chocolate and a Mr. Jolly Gumdrop Smoothie, but the smoothie we got as a kids' combo, which meant we got one of their adorable gingerbread-house themed boxes.

And I think this would be such a cute and easy treat for when you are driving around looking at Christmas lights. Our "prize" was a pair of Scooter's sunglasses, and there was also a special Scooter's x Candyland vinyl sticker. My son was thrilled about both!

I do think they missed an opportunity to offer some mini gingerbread kids or round ginger cookies in the kids' combos, but I also understand that it's a bad idea to offer too many seasonal or limited-edition items at a time and they had to cut it off somewhere. We got the regular sugar cookies and loved those as usual.

During our second visit we also tried a Queen Frostine Sugar Cookie, which the first Scooter's we visited had been out of. So, we were glad they were in-stock at this location. The sugar cookie was a standard sugar cookie flavor with a mild cream cheese frosting and translucent blue sprinkles. It was quite large and totally delicious. The texture was more like a homemade, classic sugar cookie with some buttery almost-crispness around the edge rather than like a cakey, Lofthouse-style sugar cookie. We all felt like this was a much better value than the King Candy Cake Bites, and given the choice between the two, would definitely choose the cookie.

And for myself, I got a Grandma Nutt hot latte with almond milk. I felt like it was a lot less sweet than the Queen Frostine and more of the coffee flavor. So, for me, Queen Frostine reigns supreme again, but if you prefer a stronger coffee flavor and less of a sweet dessert-type drink, the Grandma Nutt might be a clear winner for you.

After trying everything on the Scooter's Coffee Candyland menu for the 2024 Christmas and holiday season, I think they did a great job coming up with a variety of options for their customers and I found it especially telling that my kids wanted the same things again on our second visit. I loved the colorful packaging on everything, and it felt really festive and fun, and it all tasted delicious.

Siouxland Fourth of July Fireworks & Fun

Fourth of July falls on a Thursday in 2024 and there is lots of patriotic fun happening. Here's where you can catch fireworks and celebrate the USA this year:

Little Chicago Deli is coming back to Sioux City!

Sioux City's newest eatery isn't actually new--it's just the newest iteration of a classic! Little Chicago Deli is opening in a new location just a couple doors down from the original restaurant, and they're opening on Friday May 31, 2024, for pickup orders and delivery, with the dining lobby opening later in summer 2024. Here's the info we have so far on Sioux City's new Little Chicago Deli: History of Little Chicago Deli Little Chicago Deli has been around Sioux City since 1988 as a locally owned sandwich shop, but unfortunately the previous location closed in 2017. Prior to that, I remember going there in college while I was doing an internship downtown, and I was sad to hear the original closed. But new owners, including some staff from the old Little Chicago Deli, are bringing it back in 2024! The name pays homage to local legends about Sioux City during Prohibition. For starters, Prohibition was widely ignored in Sioux City...

Best Places to Play Inside in Sioux Falls

When extreme weather means outdoor play is off the table, there's still tons of fun to be had inside in the Sioux Falls, South Dakota area, where kids can climb, explore, and learn about history, science, art, animals, and much more, all year round.
