Guide to Brekky's in Downtown Sioux City

Brekky's inside the Art SUX local collaborative art gallery is Sioux City's newest breakfast cafe and coffee shop, opened in late 2024. It had been on my bucket list since opening, and I finally got to go visit in early August 2025. I brought my 4 kids with me, and we all enjoyed trying a variety of things on the menu and checking out the art. Based on my online research and personally visiting Brekky's, here's my full review of and guide to Brekky's:

Cinni-Bites provide a background for the post title

Where is Brekky's?

Brekky's is located at 515 4th Street in historic downtown Sioux City, Iowa. Brekky's is on the main/first floor of the Art SUX Gallery building and shares a door with the gallery. There is metered street parking in front of Brekky's/Art SUX and in front of other nearby businesses and attractions. You can use coins or an app to pay for that metered parking (25c per 15 minutes with a max of 2 hours when I visited in August 2025,) and the metered parking is free every evening and on weekends.

Food at Brekky's

Brekky's pizza

Brekky's has a wide variety of breakfast option, including lots of savory and hearty options, which I really appreciate. I find a feel a lot better all day if I have a breakfast that's high in protein and includes some veggies, and normally I have to forgo that if I'm eating at a cafe. But not at Brekky's! Some of their options include:

  • Brekky Bites: egg bites with a wide variety of topping options and Brekky sauce
  • Brekky Burritos: egg bites in burrito form
  • Brekky Pizza: breakfast pizza with meat, eggs, cheese, and Brekky sauce
  • Brekky Nachos: meat, eggs, cheese, and Brekky sauce, served on tortilla chips
  • Pink Cinnamon Rolls: big, yeasted cinnamon rolls with adorable pink frosting
  • Cinni-Bites: tiny belgian waffles with pink frosting
  • Fresh Strawberries with Whipped Cream

On our first visit to Brekky's, we tried the Brekky Pizza, the cinnamon rolls, the Cinni-Bites, and some strawberries and it was all delicious. My boys really loved the pizza, especially my teen, and it was easy to see why (I had one piece of it, and it was so good!!) The Cinni-Bites were my personal fave, and since they are sold as 4 small waffles on a place, it's super easy to share. So is the pizza, which comes sliced into 4. The strawberries are basically a plastic cup full of perfect strawberries, with the tops sliced off so they're ready to eat, and that also make it easy to share and please lots of people.

Drinks at Brekky's

Enjoying a lavender lemonade at Brekky's

Brekky's has a wide variety of breakfast drinks including some imaginative and innovative combinations that you won't find elsewhere in Siouxland. Their drinks include:

  • Chillates including the "basic B" (caramel iced latte with pink fluff,) the "vegan B" (brown sugar oat milk latte with coconut cream whip,) and the "zestetto" (orange and chocolate iced latte topped with fluff and orange zest)
  • Hot coffee and espresso-based drinks including breves, cafe Cubano, and brewed black coffee
  • Chai and matcha teas including both culinary and ceremonial matcha varieties
  • Hot chocolate
  • Lemonade with several fruit syrup options
  • Smoothies in several fruit options
Our family favorite was indisputably the smoothies. They are dairy free smoothies that are basically fruit mix (real fruit plus sugar, basically) and ice blended together, and they were really delicious and had a nice texture. We also tried the lemonades but realized too late that they were all sparkling and just not really the flavor we were looking for in lemonade for kids. I did enjoy my lavender lemonade, which I got without the caffeine option and found it sweet and tasty.

I hope in the future they consider adding a small kids' menu, because the 16oz drinks were really big for a kid and I'd love to be able to pay like $2 or $3 for a smaller size of kids drink. And being able to would definitely make me more likely to come buy myself full price adult drinks when I do.

Atmosphere at Brekky's

drink station and menu boards at Brekky's

Brekky's vibe is bright and colorful, with imaginative flavors and comfy seating. There are black booths at the entrance to Art SUX and on the other side of the stairs, which was previously sort of a library-ish area when Hardline Coffee was in this space. And they thoughtfully provided lots of charging stations so you can plug in while you're there. When we went, it was busy, but the seating is so spread out the overall effect was still peaceful. I think it'd be such a cool place to do homework or work-work!

And of course, right through the back doors at Brekky's is the Art SUX galleries themselves! Be sure to stop by while you are there and check out the amazing art. It's free to browse the art, AND much of it is actually for sale so, keep Art SUX in mind for gift options. Our family favorite this visit was a beautiful work of Oz-inspired puzzle piece art!

They also had added a fun coloring area since last time I visited Art SUX, and thoughtfully provided coasters. So, once we were done eating, we headed in there to color. My kids were thrilled!

And there are also some cheery yellow tables out front of Brekky's, which would be a fun option in nice weather to sit out front and do some people watching as you enjoy your food and drink.

The Ranch KC offers family-friendly KC BBQ in Belton, MO

UPDATE: The Ranch KC closed in spring 2026. I am leaving my review up for now in case people are still curious about what it was like. You can check out more of my KC faves here. On a recent trip to Kansas City, I had the opportunity to visit a new restaurant, The Ranch KC, and I was so impressed I wanted to share about it with all of you! My former hometown of Kansas City is one of my favorite travel destinations, not just because I love seeing my family and friends there, but also because there are great places to play, shop, eat, and explore. And The Ranch KC is definitely going on my list of great little places to eat in the KC area for future trips too! The Ranch KC is at its heart a barbeque restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and lots of kid-friendly options, so I definitely recommend it as a great way to get some KC BBQ, especially if you're visiting the area with kids.  Where is The Ranch KC? The Ranch KC is located at 17207 S US Hwy 71 in Belton, ...
