Hawkeye Basketball Games at the Sioux City Tyson this November!!

Siouxland is full of University of Iowa fans, alumni, and friends who love watching University of Iowa Hawkeye basketball. But driving 4 hours each way to catch a home game in Iowa City can be tough. So, it's super exciting that they've launched a new series of "home games" in other Iowa cities! Here's the info families need on these Hawkeye basketball games right here in Sioux City in November of 2026:

What are the Iowa Basketball Games in Sioux City?

The University of Iowa basketball teams are playing two special games in Sioux City as part of a series of home games at venues across Iowa. The Hawkeye men will be playing Virginia Tech, while the women will take on Vanderbilt.

Where are the Hawkeyes playing in Sioux City?

The Hawkeye men and women will each play a game at Sioux City's Tyson Events Center. The official street address is 401 Gordon Drive in downtown Sioux City, Iowa. There is a large lot, and the Tyson website says $10 for regular parking and $15 for VIP Parking, or on the Ticketmaster site there is an add-on for $11.50 parking for the women's game. So, I'm not 100% sure if that's the same price parking will be on the day of the game or not but I would guess in that ballpark.

The Tyson FAQs say cash is not accepted, so make sure you have a card of some kind. If you are sending a tween or teen to the game who doesn't have a debit card, I can't make any promises, but have had success with my own teen using a Visa giftcard for cashless sporting events, so that's what I personally would try for this too. Be sure to register it online if that's an option-sometimes you have to register them online with your address and create a pin before you can use them out and about! I also used to always write down the card number and pin myself so that I could check the balance from home if my teen asked and that came in very handy several times.

When are the Hawkeyes playing in Sioux City?

The Hawkeye men are playing their Sioux City game on Tuesday, November 10th at 6pm. Doors open at 4:30pm.

The Hawkeye women are playing their Sioux City game on Sunday, November 15th at noon. Doors open at 10:30am.

Sioux City Hawkeye Fan Fun

The University of Iowa colors are black and yellow, so I definitely encourage people to wear those colors! Virginia Tech is maroon and orange and Vanderbilt colors are gold and black, so maybe avoid those unless you're intentionally cheering for those teams.

If you're looking for cute gameday accessory options, I love the Nickel & Suede University of Iowa licensed jewelry collection!

The Tyson has a clear bag policy, so be sure to check that out and make sure you are compliant or meet one of the exceptions.

Also, Caitlin Clark has a brand-new children's picture book EXTRAordinary! A Little EXTRA to Reach BIG Dreams out this November, so consider reading that with your kids as you're talking with them about the great traditions of Iowa basketball. I'll have a full review up soon, but the short version is that it's very cute and encouraging!

How to Get Tickets to the Hawkeye basketball games in Sioux City

To get your tickets to see the Hawkeyes playing basketball in Sioux City, go to the Tyson Events Center's Primebank box office in person or online (through Ticketmaster.)

But don't wait too long--I took a look at the Ticketmaster options for both the men's and women's games at the Tyson and there were not many seats left. I hope that encourages the Hawkeyes to return to Sioux City often!

The Ranch KC offers family-friendly KC BBQ in Belton, MO

UPDATE: The Ranch KC closed in spring 2026. I am leaving my review up for now in case people are still curious about what it was like. You can check out more of my KC faves here. On a recent trip to Kansas City, I had the opportunity to visit a new restaurant, The Ranch KC, and I was so impressed I wanted to share about it with all of you! My former hometown of Kansas City is one of my favorite travel destinations, not just because I love seeing my family and friends there, but also because there are great places to play, shop, eat, and explore. And The Ranch KC is definitely going on my list of great little places to eat in the KC area for future trips too! The Ranch KC is at its heart a barbeque restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and lots of kid-friendly options, so I definitely recommend it as a great way to get some KC BBQ, especially if you're visiting the area with kids.  Where is The Ranch KC?
