Grab your coziest boots and sweaters, 'cause it's time to celebrate fall! Every year, businesses and attractions around Sioux City join in the same weekend in October to have autumnal fun, and from the sounds of things, 2021 might be the best year yet! This year, Sioux City Fall Festival will be Saturday October 9th and Sunday October 10th, and here are some of the fun fall and Halloween themed events happening in Sioux City that weekend:

Siouxland Pumpkin Patches

Now updated for 2021! One of the best parts of living right in the middle of some of the world's best farmland is access to amazing pumpkin patches! Here are some of the great pumpkin patches within a 2 hour drive from downtown Sioux City, listed by distance from downtown Sioux City. I definitely recommend checking the website or Facebook page of the patch you plan to visit before heading out this year, as things may change quickly, and some are limiting attendance, requesting mask wearing, or taking other precautions to limit the spread of illness. If you love museums, you won't want to miss out on this fun opportunity to find a new favorite, or check out a museum you've been curious about but deterred from visiting by the admission fees! Here's how: What is Museum Day? On Museum Day, museums across the nation celebrate history and learning by offering free admission through tickets available on the Museum Day website! National Museum Day is organized by the Smithsonian Museum. When is Museum Day? Museum Day 2021 is on Saturday, September 18th, 2021. Family Guide to the Missouri River Outdoor Expo

Did you know Ponca, Nebraska hosts the Midwest's biggest outdoor expo? This September you could be one of the 50k+ people who visit Siouxland's Ponca State Park to take part in the 90+ activities available! When is the Missouri River Outdoor Expo? The expo happens every September, usually the third weekend. Saturday and Sunday are open to the public, while Friday is dedicated to school field trips. The 2021 expo is on Saturday and Sunday September 18th and 19th, from 9am to 5pm, with school day happening Friday, September 17th, 2021.  Where is the Missouri River Outdoor Expo? The Missouri River Outdoor Expo takes place at Ponca State Park in Ponca, Nebraska. The park is about 25 miles or 32 minute drive from downtown Sioux City. There is ample free parking at Ponca State Park, and admission to the Expo itself is free, but like all Nebraska State Parks, a valid park entry pass is required and is not free. Autumn Grove Orchard: Apple Picking in Sioux City

***UPDATE: this post now reflects dates, hours, and prices for 2021*** It's officially apple picking season in Sioux City!! Autumn Grove Orchard just announced that they are opening for the 2021 season on Saturday, August 28th from noon to 4pm, and that they should have Macintosh, Gala, and Honeycrisp apples ready! What is Autumn Grove Orchard? Autumn Grove Orchard is Sioux City's only pick-your-own apple orchard. Autumn Grove is locally owned by a Sioux City family and grows 9+ varieties of apples, which are available to pick as they ripen throughout the fall. They also offer honey from a local beekeeper, and a variety of baked goods and crafts for sale, and even some pumpkins near the end of the season! Where is Autumn Grove Orchard? Autumn Grove Orchard is at 1658 180th Street in Sioux City, just a few minutes past the Lakeport Commons shopping area and Fleet Farm. There is free parking at the orchard. If the parking area is full, just pull over along the
