September Events in Siouxland for Kids and Families

 Every month I bring you the best things to do in Sioux City and Siouxland, from storytimes and crafts to music festivals, streaming concerts, and holidays from silly to serious. This month, some of the highlights include Art Splash and the openings of local sunflower farms, apple orchards, and pumpkin patches!  I hope this event list inspires you to go make some happy memories with your family this month!

    • 10:30am: Storytime at the Morningside branch of the Sioux City Public Library
    • 6-7:30pm: Monarch Tagging with Woodbury County Conservation. Meet at the Sioux City Prairie entrance 1/2 mile north of Military Road on Talbot Road (call the nature center at (712)258-0838 if you have questions or need directions!)

Nightcrawlers will be provided as bait, kids should bring own rod, reel, hooks, etc. FREE hot dogs and chips will be provided to participants after the fishing! More info here.

    • 9am to 5pm: Quilting Candy quilt show at the Sioux City Convention Center with quilts on display, vendors, and lots of fun including a kids sewing area, $5 per person
    • 10am to noon: Kid Saturday: Explore the Wild at the Sioux City Public Museum, with FREE take & make craft kits based on the wildlife photography exhibit currently on display at the museum, plus a scavenger hunt in the museum for those who'd like to do it!

    • 10:30am to noon: Saturday Art Lesson: 3D Trolls at the Sioux City Art Center, $7, for ages 8+, or a younger child with an adult helper. More information here
    • 10:30am: Once Upon an Artist at the Le Mars Art Center for ages 2-5 with a parent helper. Includes an art project, story, and snack. $5
    • 11am: Mother-Son Tailgating Challenge at Cone Park, sign up required ahead of time with Sioux City Parks & Rec
    • Noon-5pm: Glass Fusing Day at Pickled Palette for ages 10+
    • 1:30pm: Oh, My Iowa! Musical performance by the Browns at their Century Theater in Le Mars, with optional dinner at noon.     • Dusk: Hocus Pocus drive-in movie at Knoepfler Chevrolet, FREE with a freewill donations going towards the Foodbank of Siouxland, parking opens at 6:30pm
