September Events in Siouxland for Kids and Families

Every month I bring you the best things to do in Sioux City and Siouxland, from storytimes and crafts to music festivals, streaming concerts, and holidays from silly to serious. This month, some of the highlights include Art Splash and the openings of local sunflower farms, apple orchards, and pumpkin patches! I hope this event list inspires you to go make some happy memories with your family this month!

Things to do in Siouxland September 1st through 5th, 2026

    • 11am: Library Storytime at the Perry Creek branch of the Sioux City Public Library
  • Weds 9/2
    • 10:30am: Library Storytime at the Morningside branch of the Sioux City Public Library
    • 10:30am: Mini Movers library storytime for ages 0-2 at the North Sioux City Community Library
  • Thurs 9/3

    • Alley Arts Festival hosted by Vangarde Arts, in downtown Sioux City in the alleys roughly  4th, 6th, Pierce, and Nebraska Streets
    • 8am to 1pm: Sioux City Farmer's Market at the farmer's market lot west of the Tyson
    • 10:30am to noon: Saturday Art Lessons: Photo Story Drawings at the Sioux City Art Center, $7 per project. For artists 8+ or for younger artists with a parent or other adult helper

    • 4pm: Lego Builders for kids in grades K-5 at the North Sioux City Community Library (registration required to ensure there are enough bricks for all participants!)

    • 11am: Library Storytime at the Perry Creek branch of the Sioux City Public Library
    • 4pm: Master Builders Lego club for middle schoolers at the North Sioux City Community Library (registration required to ensure there are enough bricks for all participants!)
  • Weds 9/30

The Ranch KC offers family-friendly KC BBQ in Belton, MO

UPDATE: The Ranch KC closed in spring 2026. I am leaving my review up for now in case people are still curious about what it was like. You can check out more of my KC faves here. On a recent trip to Kansas City, I had the opportunity to visit a new restaurant, The Ranch KC, and I was so impressed I wanted to share about it with all of you! My former hometown of Kansas City is one of my favorite travel destinations, not just because I love seeing my family and friends there, but also because there are great places to play, shop, eat, and explore. And The Ranch KC is definitely going on my list of great little places to eat in the KC area for future trips too!
