Every month I bring you the best things to do in Sioux City and Siouxland, from storytimes and crafts to live music and sports, and holidays from silly to serious.   • Weds 4/1

    • 11am: Storytime for kids 3-7 at the South Sioux City Public Library
    • 12:30 to 3:30pm: Imagination Station at the Sioux City Art Center, $7 per child (discounts for members and for multiple children available), a parent or another adult caregiver MUST stay and supervise
  • Sat 4/4
    • Discovery Saturday: Of Thee I Sing at the National Music Museum in Vermillion, SD, with $20 admission for a family of 4
    • 10am to 1pm: Let's Fly a Kite at the Sergeant Floyd Riverboat Museum, FREE
    • 10am: Easter Egg Hunt at Embassy Rehab and Care Center in Sgt. Bluff, IA
    • 10am: Easter Egg Hunt at Merrill Kissinger Park in Merrill, IA, for kids 0 to 10 years old
    • 10am: Easter Egg Hunt at Accura Healthcare in Onawa, IA. Hosted by the Onawa Chamber of Commerce
    • 10:30am: Saturday Art Lessons: Alcohol Ink Resist Art at the Sioux City Art Center, $7 per project
    • 11am: Saturday Class: Life in a Keelboat at the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, for kids in grades K-8, FREE
    • 11am: First Saturday Family Storytime: Bouncing Bunny Jamboree at the Sioux City Public Library downtown
    • 11am to 1pm: Easter Egg Hunt and Festival at Windmill Park in Orange City, IA

    • 1pm: Monday Matinee at Morningside movie showing at the Morningside branch of the Sioux City Public Library
    • 7:30pm: Meredith Wilson's The Music Man performed live at the Sioux City Orpheum Theatre

    • Friends of the Library Used Book Sale in the former Chuck E. Cheese at the Southern Hills Mall, free admission

The Ranch KC offers family-friendly KC BBQ in Belton, MO

UPDATE: The Ranch KC closed in spring 2026. I am leaving my review up for now in case people are still curious about what it was like. You can check out more of my KC faves here. On a recent trip to Kansas City, I had the opportunity to visit a new restaurant, The Ranch KC, and I was so impressed I wanted to share about it with all of you! My former hometown of Kansas City is one of my favorite travel destinations, not just because I love seeing my family and friends there, but also because there are great places to play, shop, eat, and explore. And The Ranch KC is definitely going on my list of great little places to eat in the KC area for future trips too!
